ONE LONG WINTER WITHOUT FIRE
Synopsis
Six months have passed since Jean (Aurélien Recoing) and Laure (Marie Matheron) lost their five-year-old daughter – in a fire in the barn of their small farm. Laure blames herself for not having been there, and Jean for not having paid attention; the insurance company refuses to pay out, and the marriage can barely withstand the strain. To pay for Laure’s treatment, Jean takes a job in a factory. There he meets the siblings Kastriot and Labinota, refugees from Kosovo whose lives the war has destroyed. In his closeness to Labinota, Jean senses something he had lost. Greg Zglinski shot “One Long Winter Without Fire” in 2004, a co-production of Switzerland with Belgium and Poland.
The film premiered in 2004 in Venice, where it was awarded the Cinemavvenire Prize for best feature and the Grand Prix Signis. “One Long Winter Without Fire” was shown at Around the World in 14 Films in Berlin in 2006.
